Rockfish Recommendations

Howdy all,
I am not new to kayaking, nor rock cod fishing. I am, however, new to the combo. I have only been in the salt a couple of times on my yak. Could someone recommend a first area a newbie should attempt a rockfish trip? I am primarily looking for a safe place to get my feet wet and catch a couple fish.

I am in Dublin and hope to go mid-week next week.

If you're afraid of the surf, you should launch from santa cruz harbor or HMB harbor.  If you are moderately confident in handling the surf, or just don't mind getting wet, try bean hollow, linda mar or davenport.   Sounds like the salmon are going off at linda mar so you could do both there.

Check the marine forecast at wunderground.com and don't go out if it's more than 6 ft seas or 20mph winds on the top number.  Also go early - the wind usually gets worse during the day and kicks you off the water between 10am and 2pm.
