you can see a solid south swell, created in the southern hemisphere,
in a late spring storm there,
appearing on this bouy 2007 nov 6.

this is what a big south swell looks like on the bouys.

starts out really long period, like 20 seconds. over the next 3 days or
so the  period will get shorter as slower waves arrive after their
10,000 mile trip from the southern hemisphere.

way late in the summer season for a big south swell, but it does happen.
