Erik what's the deal on these rods can the rod take the line rubbing against the inside can the line take it? I know they would not work well with spinning reels but what about casting?

Well... I don't know.

Line abrasion would be my only real concern in a light tackle situation.  I'd have to believe that line is under less abrasion when running over highly polished ceramic guides than running over the inside of a graphite tube... but there probalby is a lot more physics going on there that could make it less abrasive as well I suppose.

I know that rods of this type cast well... in fact the Team Diawa tournament surf casters have taken lots of tournaments and I believe set distance records with this style of rod.  Daiwa has a lineup of Interline rods as well

Might be worth the try for low a hassle kayak trolling rod for the lakes.

I saw that cabelas has their own brand of interline rods in the bargain cave.

reviews were mostly positive, but casting braid didn't seem to work as well as mono there.

regarding abrasion, just going from basic physical principles, the surface area is much
greater inside the rod when compared to the guides, so the potential for less force per square
area is there. it's kind of like you have an infinite number (okay, very large) number of guides
without the side effect of messing with the flex pattern.

I almost got one from cabelas to try but decided I have too many experiments going on to
add that one.

most of my hassles on the water are due to tip wrapping, and trying to stow rods with eyes
catching on things. So these rods are attrractive from that point of view.

get one mickfish, they were only $40, and tell us how it works!

If they had an 8' 4-10lb line I might think about it. Not going to risk it with bigger fish.
