I just called chuck to see how they did.....Chuck caught 1 keeper on the troll (Rotary Killer) just half a mile out of the jaws. Chef picked up two keepers trolling an apex. They were fishing along the edge of the canyon.

More info and pics to follow.

Nice work fellas - despite the 8AM launch  :smt023

Chef used a Deep Six Diver to catch both of his fish, so I did the same.

I want to thank Chef for giving me his Red Bull to drink.  It saved me yesterday.  I was so tired from a long day of no sleep, bumpy ocean conditions, and so much paddling that I started nodding off while paddling back.  According to my GPS log, we went over 12 miles  -- straight out, then to 50/51, then to the Pajaro Pipline, an back.

The irony of the day was that we caught all of our fish only half a mile out of the harbor. :smt012
If I were to go back to Moss again anytime soon, I would just go straight out and fish the  edge of the canyon.

There were a lot of commercial boths out there.

I was looking at Moss for a go out today, but made the mistake last nite of reading the marine weather forecast which called for 10 k in the a.m. with more in the p.m., so I decided to go out of the S.C. harbor and rockfish or butts.   This morning dawned so fogless and calm in S.C. that I decided to go to Moss, tho I didn't get there til 7:30 or so(overcast fog, n wind), and I saw a double yellow kayak paddling out the jaws as I put in on the south side of the south jetty.
I never saw that yak again. I headed for 49.90 51.50 and started to troll but decided I'd never get there that way, but put a green flasher and green apex down behind a Deep 6 (small one) when I got close to those numbers, probably about 9:30. 10 mins later I got a 23 incher.  I think I was down pretty deep, because I had to reel miles of line in, I don't know how anyone would know how deep they were with a deep 6.
Figuring there were more there, I put it out again, and got a good solid hit, a big one, I thought.  Sure was towing the yak around.  Then the "fish" made a right turn just after the only PB in the area did, and you can guess the rest - they hadn't noticed because they snagged me with their downrigger.  More evidence that I was deep- an undersized halibut was on the apex.  That PB didn't seem like he came anywhere close to me.
Water was just a little bumpy til 10, then a little wind came up, I headed in at 11:00, took me til noon with the wind and waves pushing me.  It was actually calmer water closer to the jaws.  I probably could have stayed out longer, but I had only been to Moss once before and was being cautious.
Glad to hear other yakkers got theirs.  I assume it was the yellow double.

Fuzzy T,

I think you posted on the wrong report....

Anyway, Bill did mention about someone trying to get hold of him through the VHF.....it must have been you then....I guess....

They were paddling a yellow triple.
