The Husky Jerk is a heavy suspending jerkbait that has a relatively loose wobbling action. The larger sizes dive 6'-8' on 12#-15# mono. They are very durable lures. I've caught a lot of LMB on big Husky Jerks in the springtime at Clear Lake.

On one windy March afternoon at the mouth of Rodman Slough, the day after a big tournament, I caught a 29# limit on a #11 silver/black HJ. This "wolf pack" of big bass was using an area of broken off tule clumps in about 4'-6' of water. I made long casts into the wind, then cranked fast about 6' and stopped, then cranked another 6' and stopped, etc. They all slammed the HJ on the pause and basically hooked themselves. The first was 5#, the next two were each 6#, then an 8# nailed it, followed by a 4#. As testimony to the great hooking power of the HJ, I only failed to land one hit.

As a side note, the larger silver/black Rattlin' Raps are the best lipless crankbaits I've ever found for LMB and SMB. Try using that same crank and pause retrieve when everyone else is throwing suspending jerkbaits. I once caught a 10# LMB from Clear Lake that way. I agree, Rapalas are simply amazing lures!
