I went to Lake Del Valle today thought I would target Stripers so I bought half a dozen minnows, on the water by seven by eleven o’clock I had five good take down and managed to boat two stripers just under 18” :smt010. I was sloooo trolling the minnows in the middle at the narrows. Once the minnows where gone I trolled for trout with on love there :smt013, off the water by 1 o’clock. I did see one other NCKAer Ben he was heading out at noon with a hand full of minnows, will have to hear from him on how he did.

Is the water temp still warmer than the air temp, as during the camping weekend?

The water temp was about 65 deg.  My temp sensor doesn't directly touch the water, so it could be a little off.  I caught one catfish.  I was using minnows on the west side towards the dam.  There is drop offs, rock piles, and submerged trees over there.  I tried drop shotting, but no bites.

Here are the before and after pics.

Hojoman the water was very warm wy fingers where cold so I would put them in the water to warm them up, I think we have some time for the lake to cool off and turn the stripers on.

Ben nice to see you did not get Skunked did you try drifting a minnow in the narrows.

Ben nice to see you did not get Skunked did you try drifting a minnow in the narrows.

I mostly stayed on the steep ledges and sunken trees towards the dam.  By the time I was coming back to the narrows, I was tired and the wind was howling.  Plus I broke my line and I was too lazy to retie.

I bought the minnows in Antioch @ Gotcha Bait.  I live in Antioch, so I can get them on the way.

Sorry you didn't get any keepers Pat but at least you avoided the skunk. I'm going to have to make it over the del valle when the water cools down a bit.

FF I check the fishing reports from last year and it seems early December was the month every one was catching striper's at Del-Valle. Water is definitely to hot right now.
