napa river striper

stripers moving in...finally able to get out today....tried drifting with anchovies but no luck ..then decided to part and throw some live bullhead...got 3 hookups but only manage to pull one out...21 inches ..good enough for today...a nephew got a 31  last thursday so things are looking up

sorry kiel .  It was a last minute thing.  trying to figure out the flow of the river.  Best time is to drift for 2 hours on the outgoing tide and come back 2 hours on the incoming tide and be back where I started.  Napa has a nice slow drift.  Just have to watch the rich folks with the big boats...river is narrow...Sorry can't make it to memndo this Sunday..got company

Did you buy the bullheads? If so where?

got em at a local baitshop here in vallejo...+no sign of sturgeon

 I used to fish the Napa as a kid and then later with a buddy. We used to hit the area between the sunken barge and the dump area on a low tide. Paddle the boat into the shallows by the old pilings and chuck bullheads.Inside of South Slough at the T used to produce when it was on too. October was the hot month for that section of river.
