It is funny how you can go from one fishing site/board to the next and see some all too familiar names/handles.

Well, here's the deal. I finally have come to the conclusion that a motor boat is out of my reach for the next few years and I could use some exercise. I fish like I need it to survive, so my love for fishing and being on the water has come to the compromise of buying a kayak. I have a truck to haul it, plenty of storage for a few kayaks, and the determination to make this a reality.

As it turns out, some of my friends are seeking the same options I am. *cough* Ramsey *cough*

Well, before I take a leap and buy before I try... I figured I would give it a shot here.

I'd like to get out and test paddle some kayaks and maybe do a little fishing too. If you have an extra yak lying around and would like some company, give me a ring. If you have some free time and wouldn't mind letting a newb paddle your rig, shoot me an email. Will be respectful of your things; listen to you as the captain of the boat and willing to travel pretty much bay wide. I frequent SoCal often and could meet up down there as well.

I look forward to meeting more of you on the water and at events. Thanks in advance for your help!

Joey

I don't have an extra kayak but I am probably hitting Oyster Point Sunday. If you want to stop by and paddle my prowler 15 you are welcome to.

Mooch is the guy with all the kayaks  :smt002

Joey - I have a Prowler 15 and a Scupper Pro that you can test paddle. I will be at Oyster Point with Bill on Sunday so feel free to join us (I suggest you wear waders - if you don't have one, you can use a pair of seam sealed rain pants just to stay butt dry)

I also have a buddy who paddles a Malibu Pro. I can always borrow it if you want to test paddle that as well.

Anyway, welcome to the madness :smt077 and hope to see you on the water soon!

Mooch,

I'll take you up on that... Sunday I have no plans as yet and this is right up my alley. Not only will I get to paddle a yak, but possibly fish too! Schweet!

I'll PM you my phone number. I'd like to discuss what to bring and all the particulars. I do have a set of breath-lites to wear.

Thanks again for the offer. Also, depending on where you live I may be able to truck down gear or a yak for you.

I am in Sunnyvale.

Got your PM.  We'll talk more and make a final decision by Friday  - if the weather will let us go out and play  :smt002

I'll let you use my Prowler 15 first (more stable than the Scupper Pro) and then maybe you can try the Scupper later on in the day. The kayak already comes with a backrest, PFD, Fish Finder and a paddle - so you're all set. Just bring a rod or two and some tackle for stripers or halibut. I'll bring some leashes for your rods as well. Bring a few zip lock bags for your cell phone, wallet....ect.

I live in HMB, so I'll just meet you there.

Joel / Mooch
