help me with fish ID please

 I cought and released what I thought was a baby Ling, but after looking at some of the pics on this site I think it was a decent sized Cabezon. I didn't take a picture of it, but it has a blueish tint and it had huge fins on either side by it's gills. I figured it was a ling because of the blue color, do Cabs get that too?

Yep, cabs can be blue, or red, or orange, or even blue.  Without pictures it's hard to help you on the id.  The large pectoral fins you mention is a pretty good clue.  Was the head sort of pointy or blunt shaped.  Small lings tend to be very skinny and almost streamlined, whereas cabezons have a relatively large head compared to the rest of their body.
