Father's Day is Sunday. I wanted to rent a skiff in SC with my wife and 2 little girls (3,7) but they are already booked up. Now, my back-up plan is to take everyone to a wharf or pier to fish together. That might be better for the 3yo. We live in Oakland, where should we go? SC wharf is my last resort, it's awesome, but far. Any piers in the East bay offer family friendly fishing? Hopefully with bathrooms. 3 lady-folk with me, we'll need a potty at some point.

Thank you!

Pinole pier?  Not sure the accommodations.  I like the pier on 1st street in Benecia as well.  Is there a pier off Treasure island?
“I’m going fishing.”  They said, “we will go with you.”

I have no idea how the fishing is, but there is a very small pier at the end of Jack London Square.

Emeryville Marina has a public pier(https://maps.app.goo.gl/rnriE8qf3V4oJcjJ6). The gate to get there opens at 6am.

A lot of red crab that'll steal your bait there  so keep your bait off the bottom. Caught a shaker hali there once. From what I hear not super productive unless your going to sharks/rays or smelt, but it has a couple benches and there are notches/ holes for you rods. Bathroom is a 5 min walk from the pier. https://maps.app.goo.gl/7SKCFo598bu3TiRt6. For the kids id recommend going with a bobber and some shrimp for jacksmelt there.

Happy Father's Day!

My fav by far for this sort of thing is Torpedo Wharf

You can catch lots of different things, and w/small hooks and shrimp or whatever at least usually score some lil' perch-type stuff if all else fails.

And/or bring a crab pole and pull up some rock crabs (or even dungies for fun).

Even if you don't manage to catch anything it's just a beautiful area. Bathrooms and food nearby too.

This is a great option.  I also like Elephant Rock Pier in Tiburon.

If you are looking further east, Eckly Pier in Crockett is pretty nice (but hard to fish) - nice shoreline and plenty of space to picnic. Big Break is another nice pier, with some playgrounds and stuff for the little ones to explore. Some of the other piers out here don't have much other than just the pier, and can be a little seedy. I'd probably not take small kids to Antioch bridge pier, Antioch Marina pier, or any of the piers in Pittsburg. The Martinez pier recently re-opened after a closure for repairs, that might be a nice choice too.

My two recommendations, also as a dad with two young boys and can't always get out boat prepped for a day of fishing.

- Alameda Rock Wall.  Just fish off the jetty.  Right at the corner before it turns right to the rocks.  Plenty of possibilities to catch halibut, stripers, sharks, rays, jacksmelt.  If they're bored, the sandy beach on the inside is comfortable to set up a blanket and toys or play in the water.

- Barbara and Jay Vincent Park, Richmond.  Fish at the jetty.  Catch halibut, stripers, shark, perch, or rays.  Sandy beach steps away on the marina side to setup a picnic area and/or swim.
