I’d love to bring my kayak to Catalina and kayak into a more remote campground. I know I can easily rent a kayak in Avalon, but I want my own kayak. Can we take kayaks on the ferry or the shuttle over there out of LA/San Pedro/Dana point?

Where else can I kayak in to a cool campground? I think I’ve seen YouTube videos of people doing it in Tomales?

You can borrow my Hobie AI and sail there…

Tomales is nice. Don't know if they're still open, but picking up some oysters from Hog Island or Tomales Bay Oyster Co. to BBQ was fun a fun time. Just be sure to be mindful of beach/tides and don't let your kayak float away...

I used to kayak camp at a beach in Tomales bay around memorial day with a few friends. You buy a permit and pay a small fee and paddle over. The best launch site is probably Nicks Cove but I liked the long scenic route from Marconi launch in Marshall, the dirt ramp. There are multiple beaches the parks dept lets you camp at there.

I’ve been trying to figure something like this out since 2018. Ferry’s don’t let you bring big kayaks on board but i think if you got something like  an inflatable Hobie I think you can swing it. I got a ton of PTO waiting to be used if you’re looking for company. In 2019 I did a stay the night on board a boat and they take you out the Channel Islands to dive/spearfish for the day (I think it was like $70) provided breakfast, lunch and had a hot tub on board (really a steal). This was outta Santa Barbara. But since they fire I think they stopped allowing people stay the night on board in the marina the night before the trip
