Monterey Bay was totally alive yesterday! Hundreds of Risso dolphins, swimming all around me, underneath my kayak. I saw a baby Risso spy hopping, maybe she was checking me out? I saw a massive humpback whale lunge feeding squid right on the surface, right in front of me. I caught close to 80 (?) squid, 5 rockfish, and I grabbed a floating chunk of kelp for my compost pile. I spent over 7 hours on my kayak, it was one of those truly amazing days on the water. One I wont forget for a long time. On top of the weather and animals showing up, I met Moo Moo in the parking lot too! We have briefly talked a couple times in the past, so getting to hang out near him was pretty cool, for me at least, lol. Whenever I couldn't find the schools of squid, all I had to do was find Moo, and he was probably on them. Thanks for letting me mooch off you Moo Moo!

I think I am trying it all over again, Monday, Memorial Day

That's awesome....  I was surrounded by the Risso's also about a month ago, it was surreal. Crazy how many of them travel together.

MMO's car in the parking lot might be a more reliable indicator of squid in an area than dolphins or bait  :smt044

Great job. You caught way more squid then I did. It was so spotty near the can so I went past the lover's point to find a more consistent bite but none were there.
