Did my maiden voyage on my first kayak in foster city lagoon. Trolled with a white paddle tail on bottom and stopping once in awhile with a hi low and shrimp. Fished Early morning low tide into incoming. I know it's a lagoon so I was guessing tide didn't matter as much.  Saw some fish on the finder chilling bottom, some small bait schools here and there. No hookups.

There was a single large group of kayakers probably around 8/9 to look out for but other than that clear to fish.

Very new at kayak angling so take this for what it's worth . This session was more for getting a feel for my gear, just wanted to share in case anyone was wondering about the lagoon.

I'd never heard of it, even though I've lived in the Bay Area for years at different times in my life.  Thanks for the report, and congrats on getting out for your first trip.  The sport can become a lifestyle, so watch for that - and enjoy!   :smt001

Being an honorable sportsman is way more important than what you catch.

Years ago when I was a surveyor I was working by the Oracle building and watched a guy catch a halibut from shore of the Oracle lagoon. I couldn't believe it! He said small fish come through the grates into the lagoons and they become trapped once they grow too big. I've always wanted to go back there.

Ahhh, yes, the many lagoons of 650.  There are indeed fish in them.  Back in the day, Moochie and me saw various catches, including starry flounder, smelts, halibuts, sharks, n rays.  Fun area, just beware the sewage leaks!

I've always wondered about that area. Used to live in San Mateo back in late 90s and a friend of mine have always wanted to get an inflatable to navigate that waterway.

Had my maiden voyage there as well a long time ago. Buddy of mine caught a 20lb striper in there years ago.

Yep. Way back. Before all the houses. They used to have the water skiing show in there.
