I heard that the pope area was very muddy chocolate milk, but that down closer to the dam was not affected yet as of a week ago

Went up yesterday,  the south creek @ olive oarchard was green, the boat launch was brown.
Oak shores was green.
Smittle was windy with +12" rollers and whitecaps..
Bailed and hit the banks @ hennessy for 3 lmb.
So I'm going to hit the "what wind/weather  maps/programs do you yse" cyz windy and windfinder failed that time...
Carry on.

I went today. Had been debating between Tomales Crab, coast stream steelhead attempt , or Berryessa. I figured Berryessa was easiest with a good chance of success. I decided on no downrigger and to drag a fly on the fly rod as my second. Launched late at Markley around 11am. Weather was great. Water looked good but fishfinder found few marks. Totally skunked -couldn’t even pick up a skunk-saver bass. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to Markley. It’s never produced much for me. I think I’ll wait until at least March before trying Berry again.

I fished Berryessa(launched at Oak Shores, paddled up into Smittle) around New Year's. Forecast called for light winds early, increasing to 10mph from southeast after dark so I figured I'd have plenty of time to fish and get off the water before it got nasty. I was wrong. About 1pm, the clouds rolled in and a stiff southeast wind turned on like a switch. The protection of Big Island was deceiving, because as soon as I made my way past Daisy Island, it was game on. Big rollers predominately from the southeast, with an occasional odd wave coming from the southwest that was reflected off the shoreline. I've never been more sure that I was going to end up in the water with each wave coming over the bow and every few causing me to brace and lower my center of gravity to stay upright. Once I got a few coves away from the launch, it was time to bail. Rounding the point and taking the southeast waves broadside took some careful timing, but I was soon safely in shore. Ive paddled through some nasty days on Tomales Bay, but I've never been more thankful to be back on dry land than I was that afternoon. Even with the decent hike ahead to get my cart from the truck and the retrace my way back to the kayak, I knew I'd made the right call.

Long story short, good call in diverting to Hennessey.

Thanks guys.
Gunna retry Wednesday.
4 sites show 5 mph max...
Amazing riding waves like the coast up there, hiking the banks and daisy chaining the truck is work.
Sad we don't get to use our water any more...

Went up yesterday to meet a
buddy, hit oak shores cuz he's limited on hiking.
Lake was dead flat ,probably 1' visability, 54 deg surface water and warm out.
Got skunked, but what a day for it.

Thanks for the report. Sorry about the skunk, but it looks like you picked a perfect day to be out on the water.  I had Oak Shores in my sights for today but your report kept me warm in bed. I'm not a very good wintertime bass fisherman to start so I didnt need the odds extra stacked against me.
