Any idea how this video was shot?

He says he's using the Insta360 X4 camera,

but I don't understand how he gets all of these angles...

The Insta360 can take video footages from all angles (360 degrees) and you can select to play back of any angle you like.  The Insta360 probably mounts on top of the sail.

You can see him extended the selfie stick. Pretty amazing footage.

I guess I never realized how sporty a sail can be. Looks like fun!!!

Just curious how much you paid for the X5, as I saw the X4 for $299 and I’m being severely tempted…

$549 at Costco

Costco makes it even more tempting, as my wife will assume that I got a great bargain…

It came with extra battery and a selfie stick.

Just came back from Costco tonight.   The X5 price is dropping to $465 ( comes with extra battery and a selfie stick).

Just a heads up- editing the footage is kind of a pain in the ass. I still have hours of footage from my Hell’s Canyon trip I haven’t even looked at yet because I still have other stuff I need to edit.

I got that impression from various discussions online. It seems like it would be really cool footage, but maybe once the novelty wore off, not so great. Still, for sailing I think it would be especially cool...

Got an x3. Tired of editing camera angles.  Novelty wears off fairly quickly.

There is at least one processing step if you want to publish your 360 videos to YT or other platforms. My Xiaomi requires me to offload the videos from the camera to the phone for processing, then send them to the computer to compose the final video with the angle that you want. It is a PITA. If you're not willing to put many hours into making one video, stay off of these 360 cameras.

It is worth mentioning that if you mostly want to film yourself, then this camera and its software is actually pretty great.

It's just a hassle when you strap the thing to the top of your truck and take actual 360 degree footage then have to go back and decide what you want to show.
