I drove up to Timber Cove early this morning to see about 15 other kayakers thinking the same thing. I am camping here for a couple of nights so I made today’s fishing session short. I went straight out to about 80 feet of water and used frozen mackerel I saved from Monterey Bay a few weeks ago. Lots of action on small blues then I got my PB cabezon at 22” and 5.6 lbs, then I finished this morning‘s fishing session with a 27” lingcod at just over 7lbs. I made the session short in part so that I could go tide pool exploring at the low tide. I harvested a couple of dozen mussels to eat tonight along with 10 or 12 nice size owl limpets and a variety of seaweed. It’s gonna be good eating around the campfire tonight!

That's awesome and the cooking sounds like it's going to be amazing with limpets and mussels  :smt007

Thanks for the report. Cabezon. :smt007

Love to bake and baste with butter, spices and herbs. Which ever are on hand. I make multiple slits on the body to absorb the basting liquid.   Trying to fillet a cabezon seems so wasteful for me.:smt001
