I sent fish down.  I kinda looked at it as in inconvenient chore.   my semi-local shop feels the regulation state I have to have a dedicated rod set up with a defender.    on my kayak that aint happening.  "Immediate Use" is vague to me.

Yesterday, I had to send down many fish.  I built up a routine and I am fast.  I bought a clip and now I am VERY fast.

I clip a decender to the outside of my box.  it is ready to go with a sinker.  I simply take it off the clip and hook it to my existing fishing set up that is already in my hands.  I clip it to a swivel clip and let it rip.

I am on the search for a smaller dog leash clip thing.  I know they exist.  but this works on my chosen swivel clips. I tested it.

Seems like your setup would be faster than messing with a whole other rod.

I like this idea - I try to carry as little as possible when on the ocean. I could just tuck that under my seat, easily within reach for when I need it.
