I’ve caught my largest (34.5”, 37.5”) halibuts in December by chance. One was at 55’ and the other at 130’.

Halibut at 130' is impressive. I assume that halibut generally move out to deeper water this time of year, and as a result, the potential halibut waters grow exponentially. So finding them consistently seems like it'll be much more challenging, not to mention that they are probably less active, and it's more difficult to fish effectively at such depths...

I think another great place for a combo day would be Muir.  I think Eddie and I have done a dungy/rockfish day before.  I remember Michael (Tsuri) and friend catching a huge 40"+ halibut right around the corner from Muir while targeting lingcod.

The hardest part is the slog from the parking lot to the north end of the beach to launch.

I can attest that dragging a fully loaded Outback with under-inflated beach wheels over that route after several hours of fishing is a workout that a college football coach would dream about.

If a seagull poops on you, statistically it was no accident.
