Whatcha wearing in terms of pants when you're on the water? I know that this topic has been covered before, but new products hit the shelves all the time. I rarely fish the salt anymore(regrettably) so I most often find myself fishing local lakes, rivers and the delta. I'm still trying to find a durable, comfortable, quick-drying pair of pants thst would fit the bill. I've gone through a few different pairs over the years but they've all proven to either been so poorly made or so slow-drying that they're not really worth it. I definitely don't mind getting wet, just staying wet, so I’m not looking for true "dry pants."

Any suggestions welcome, and thanks in advance.

I really like the $20 Eddie Bauer hiking pants that Costco gets in the fall. They probably have something like that now. They wick water really well, and don't hold it if you get soaked through. Those, plus a thin wind breaker on top, with maybe a light fleece under, and 3 mil neo socks under Crocs. Good to go for chilly days, when the water isn't too cold yet.

If water is <65F or so, I am in a wetsuit.

I'll take this gentlemen:

freshwater, I wear a few "outfits". but the bottoms.  when it is cooler weather, there is nothing better for me than the NRS Splashpants.  I am going on 4 years on the same pair.  I put them thru the washer with all my car/dog towels on occasion for a scrub.  they are on sale right now, I am planning on buying a new pair tomorrow!!

when the weather gets warmer the sickest bottoms are swim-tights.  yup.  swim tights.  google the ones the marathon swimmers in Australia wear.  they dry almost immediately.  to solidify my fashion statement, I wear shorts on top of them.  super awesome.  sun protection, and quick dry.  I wear them when I practice re-entry.  they are after all SWIM TIGHTS.  I tell myself I already have a woman in my life and there is no one else to impress.

skin cancer runs in the male half of my family.  I am not poking that bear, ever.  I cover up.

In the winter I wear a wetsuit but in the summer and spring and fall, I wear Colombia quick-dry hiking pants. If it’s hot I wear shorts and sunscreen. I need I look into those swim tights assuming they are UV- blocking.

Swim tights are a good idea - didn't think about that.

I also have a Columbia sun shirt that works great. Hooded too, so I can cover the back of my neck and ears.

For cold weather: Kokatat Hydrus pants with socks, it keeps my lower body dry. Underneath, Columbia quick drying fishing pants with thermal wool blend underwear if needed.  Randy Sun waterproof socks for my feet. I own a Kokatat bib with socks too that I like to wear.

For upper body, I really the NRS Champion Jacket with its neoprene wrist gasket that keeps cold water from getting into my arms.

Huk Neck gaiter for my face, very breathable, does not fog up my sunglasses.
