Sometimes squidding is great in Monterey Bay, sometimes there's nothing there. How do I predict when they'll be there? Full moons, only certain months etc.?? It is a 2 hour drive for me each way to Monterey so I'd like to increase my chances of getting them if I do the trip. When are they coming back? Do we just wait for Moo Moo to find them and tell us? LOL I want some squid this weekend but I doubt they are there.

I was in Monterey on Tuesday looking for squid since it was near full moon and big tide swing. Took me 2 hours to find some. They were pretty thin and I caught about 100 in 2 hour span but the grade were mostly very small and only yielded 8 lbs. Then I couldn't find them anymore after 2 hours. I saw a couple of squid boats circling around everywhere but they never dropped the net.

It's over 3 hours drive for me each way and I get depressed if don't catch squid  :smt044 :smt044. I look for big tide swing and local intel. I think I have about 50% success rate.

Thanks for that report, Moo Moo. Where is the video though? I need some inspiration to go on Monday.
