I have been 1 year into a discipline jogging regimen.  the first two months, I hated all of it.

my wife was super supportive and would kick me out of bed at 4:30 am.  I wear earplugs to sleep, and would miss my alarm.

she started buying me jogging "outfits".  her words, not mine.

my knees are fine.  I stretch.  thinking of starting yoga.  (wife will buy me yoga outfits??  haha)

jogging + cutting out most sugar + no more booze.. has really been a huge benefit in my health.   I am nowhere near diabetic.  my doc took me off BP meds.

I'm tempted to try elk hunting again next year.  with a bow.  I know I can hike after them now.  without wheezing.

I went fishing yesterday and kept a 3.8mph pace on my kayak without thinking about it.  I wasted a lot of time on the couch.

Way to get fit, but if your wife buys you a yoga outfit, please don't post any pictures...
I don't like stuff that sucks.

That’s great to hear. I am constantly rediscovering how investments in your health pay off. And as I get older, some strength training in addition to cardio seems less and less optional.

Congrats. That's a great commitment. I agree with you 100%, especially as I get older. Ten years ago I did yoga for about a year since it was at the local senior center and it was free. I hadn't felt that good since my twenties. My wife talked me into it, but didn't threaten me with a yoga outfit.

For reasons of indolence I made too many bogus excuses and quit going.

Now that I'm 70 I find I'm a little too good at being lazy, so I started doing yoga and lifting weights again.
Also, I'm making protein drinks to make up for the lack of protein in my diet. My wife measured my daily protein and I wasn't getting enough.

Good health to you.

congratulations! that is some good discipline - happy it is working for you.

Yoga is great, a lot tougher than it looks, but great.

your last part shocked me as well.  my doctors assigned me to a licensed Dietitian.   she said bare minimum, I need 100gr of protein..I replied.."okay!  what does that look like?"    hahha..  i now have a huge jar of walnuts at my office.
