The YouTube algorithm sent me some boat vids.  The Stabicraft 1550 Frontier speaks to me.

Simple , smaller, easily towed, I can bring a couple buds, and can handle rougher waters.

I thought this was a kayak forum?

The Stabicraft look cool, and seem to have a cult following. The prices are eye-watering though.

I’m looking at used Arimas and Whalers around 19 feet.

And yet you chimed in with "I'm looking at..." :smt002

Boating buddies,  storage, ability to afford it.
If you have those, go for it...
Any day on the water  beats being in town.

I keep falling back to a 17 or 19 whaler, the classic.

Yeah those whalers in the 17'-22' range catch my eye. I have no level ground for a boat trailer. And with this inflation, no spare change.

Boat Type: Stern Drive Power Boat
Engine Specifications
Quantity: 1
Horse Power: 225
Type: Gasoline
Hull Material: Fiberglass
Beam: 8'0"
Length: 21'
Net Weight: 2700 lbs
this is like my boat. Special price $1500.00. Yup it runs but should repower with a 3.0l instead of the 4.7 4 cld it has now (unreliable) I was going to build it for us but wife got sick and can't get up into it... beats the hell out of 20 to 40K

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

College buddy has one of these minus the awesome cuddy cabin. I think we were sharing the fishing grounds with you out at HMB Friday Sept 5th, either that or there's another one out there that's a twin of your boat! Hope you scored a few, we got 2 in the 10 lb range in 8 hours of trolling.

I like the 16' Arima a lot, but its a bit tight if you want more than 2 people aboard. I have been looking at Klamath's in the 18' range. I know there are some drawbacks to aluminum hulls (noisy, more slap, etc..) but I am attracted to the lighter weight and the roominess of the layout.
With gratitude and humility

If I was to buy a boat I would want one that could replace my kayak. Capable of ocean fishing/crabbing on calm days and trolling for trout on any lake with a ramp. So self bailing hull and room for 2-4 people.

does "sea-trail" mean the same thing as "test drive".??

that is so nice.   all my buds have bass boats which is meh to me.   I like bass fishing from a kayak.

I cant own a boat unless I sell my house and buy one with boat parking.  storage rental fees for a boat is a hill I am not willing to die on, ever.

I have been looking at Klamath's in the 18' range.

I like these a lot. Very versatile, and easy size for pretty much anything but super skinny water. Probably about as big as I dare try to stuff in my side yard too - the 14' Gregor already barely fits, haha.
