Shaker fest. Caught so many I ran out of bait. Switched to a Yo Zuri minnow and kept catching them. I should have left that bait at home and just used that!

No keepers but a really nice day on the water.

Nice to hear there are some smaller ones out there for future seasons broutha J.

I've only caught two this year and had perhaps a couple more takedowns that didn't stick but no barely legal or small fish. Skunked at Paradise twice......

Thanks John.  I know the itch of that place.  There's always the hope of the one off mama just because it's paradise.  Glad you you caught. :smt006

Good to hear there is some action at paradise. I haven’t had much luck there the past couple of times I went out. Do you bounce ball the Yo Zuri minnow?

Yeah I set it up as a bounce ball. Something like a 4 foot leader to the lure and 18 inch dropper to the weight.

Definitely a good sign for the coming years.  We haven't seen many shakers up here for the past few years.  Back in the day it was like you described - shakers everywhere.

Thanks for the report, John.   :smt001

Echoing what’s been said about the future stock!
Thank you for the report John.

Interesting report. Thanks. In Crescent City this year catching has been slow too. Made me wonder. I had caught 10-12 last year by this time. This year, only one, not for lack of trying either!

I've kept track of fishing days and catching days for the last 6 years. I've even considering logging tides, temps, bait balls, and moon phases as more data to draw from in the future. It has been so slow I even tried lures for part of a day and put my fishfinder on Demo Mode for the day! I exclusively use anchovies.

Also, in about '19 and '20 I probably caught 15-20 Dogfish Shark each year, the last few years I've caught none.
