How do you target sheepshead? What do they like? I live in Oakland, where they are not abundant. I'll be traveling to Santa Barbara for a week in late July and I'd love to get on the water and target species I don't normally see up here, like sheepshead and whitefish. What can I do to increase my chances at getting a big goat and avoid common rockfish?

Shooting them is probably the best option, don't see too many caught on hook-n-line. (prove me wrong, with pics  :smt002)
