Chinook season in Washington area 10 will open soon, and after being on the sidelines for the last couple of years with a bad knee, I am ready to go out and after them again.  Salmon fishing here in Puget Sound is different than down there, tides can be brutal with water changes of 15+ or more on some days, and other days flat as can be.  Catch a negative tide day and your slogging through mud flats to get to the beach, narrow channels can get narly fast when the tides change.
That said depending where you fish the options can be Chinook, Coho, Pink (every other year), and dog fish.  Rock fish are off the table in the sound, starry flounder can be caught and kept, but most aren't really worth it size wise. I have two yaks now: The Stealth Triple Nickle and what I refer to as "Franken Hobie." Franken Hobie is a 1st gen Hobie Mirage I picked up stripped, found a seat and a pelican drive unit (I had to do some grinding to make it fit, but it works). I have less than $400 in it.
