Was back home in New Orleans to help Mom through heart surgery and brought my dive gear.

My buddy Tyler who I’ve dove with over there for a few years now invited me to go over to Pensacola one day with his buddy Chad and we had a blast. Started out with some line diving practice and hit 75 feet easy and felt good. Then we started looking for fish and I was able to get two solid Red Snapper (bigger than any I’ve got before).

The day before I left I got Tyler, Chad and I out with my buddy Donny who runs Tiger’s Den charters and houseboats in Venice. If you are ever in Venice and want a place to stay and an inshore/nearshore charter I can’t recommend Donny enough.

https://www.tigersdenvenice.com/

This was just a friends trip though, not a charter, so Donny could see how his bigger boat handled getting a little more offshore and how it worked for divers etc.

Boat was a 29 foot ProKat with twin 300s and it was perfect for what we were doing.

We found good water (not too thick murk on top, and once out past 50 feet clear all the way to the bottom), and plenty of solid Red Snapper, a few big Mangroves, nice Cobia, and a bonus pig of a TripleTail. I think my biggest snapper was even bigger than the one I got in Florida but I didn’t measure or weigh so don’t know for sure lol.

Back at the house I filleted it all up for Mom and Dad to fill their freezer.

Here’s a video and will try and upload pics as well.

Few more from Louisiana…the meat being cut up and served ghetto sashimi on paper plate is from the cobia and it was sooo good.
