I'm in Lincoln CA.  I'm looking for crappie, for eatin'.  Pretty sure they're all around, hoping for some intel.

Folsom Lake?
Camp Far West?
Rollins?

I know I can go to Collins, Berryessa, Clearlake, Oroville etc but wanted something I can get to after work 'til sunset.

From your experience, how do I find 'em?  And typically what to throw at them this time of year?
Yeah, well...the Dude abides.

If you want to catch trophy Crappies, try Lake Hennessy.   I caught a 16+ in her and have heard of a 18+" caught there.

Painting with a broad brush here but they should be in a spawning mode. They will most likely be up shallow and close to structure. I personally like to use 2” keitech swimbaits on a 1/16 oz jighead. They should be schooled up so once you find one you should find many. Sorry I don’t have more specific information for the lakes near you.

I got a nice 15”er at Berry trolling for trout last time. I also got a few last year the same way. I skunked on them the last couple of times at Clear Lake. I wouldn’t eat them out of Clear Lake but I did eat the one out of Berry and it tasted good, but a little soft in texture.

If a seagull poops on you, statistically it was no accident.

Hennessy is a bit of a haul from Lincoln, that and it is closed to all boating, you would need to park on the hwy and walk in .

Lake Britton in Burney is the motherlode of crappie lakes, a hidden gem up here. I've caught clouds of them under the stand by me bridge. Bit of a hike from you, though.

Many fishermen spend their lives chasing fish, only to realize that it was themselves that they were chasing.

The "Salty" in my handle refers to my attitude, not the waters I fish
