I have tested the loading and off loading of kayaks off both a 17' mako center console and a 18' bayrunner. It it is easy to get the boat off the deck and back on. However I can't figure a safe and 'dry' method to get someone off the boat in to the kayak with out a full swim platform(expensive).  A step ladder over the transom would work fine in calm conditions, but if it got choppy I doubt you could manuver well enough to get back up in to the boat. I am thinking salmon fishing range of 3 -5 miles for these small skiffs. Sugestions?

$50 SwimStep brackets plus a small piece of Starboard and you're in business.  Other than that you're probably not gonna have a whole lotta dry options.
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

I guess I will just have to get one of the two boats and have a test day on the water with someone that is ready for a swim.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Hmmm... that's true.  I never really consider doing it that way but it makes sense especially when the water is bit rough and you wanna avoid getting too close to the mothership and it's prop.

I think at the start of fishing things would be calm enough to launch a yak otherwise we would leave the yak behind. I am concerned about when the wind whips up and the heavy chop starts getting the kayaker safetly back in the boat.
