When you got out of the harbor,  stay to the left and heading toward the aquarium.   It's about a mile from the harbor.

Every time I read about the red bouy I think of that video ..

Never heard. Care to share more?

Also the red buoy is a good spot to head to for sand dabs and some potential bigger fish!

You might want to try Gaia GPS. I use it (on my iPhone) to track my route, mark waypoints, etc., and it shows all of the MPAs and such.
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

It's been popularized in multiple Youtube channels for fishing for Squid.  For sanddabs I wouldn't fish there, but a few hundred feet from it to the right in deeper water, away from the reef that will likely get you an out of season rockfish at this time of year.

Thanks! Just curious, any sand dab spots you would recommend?

So you can literally catch dabs from 70ft to 300+ feet, and for whatever reason the shallower you go the smaller they are and the deeper you go, the larger they are. I like to fish for dabs in about 180ft+ and that depth is approximately in-line with the red buoy, but farther to the right.  Lets say if you were at the red buoy (look up the GPS coordinates) but you were say 1/2 mile to the right of it, it would be about where I like to start, but from there I like to go deeper.
