I will be replacing the kidney belt type seat on my wife's Scrambler XT.  She is OK with the seat that's on it.  But, it kills my back whenever I use her boat.  Since Christmas is on the way, I am going to ask her to buy me a seat for HER kayak.
Any suggestions on what seat is good for the price?

Greg

This is the one I have now.....and LOVE IT!!! IMO: It's bomb proof compared to the the inflated seats (I had one before). Gotta take extra care of the seats with the inflatable pads.

- remember to leave the valve open when travelling to high elevation lakes (Like Tahoe)
- make sure water does not get in there.
- keep hooks or any sharp objects away form these type of seats.

Anyway, regarding the Surf to Summit seat:
I believe you can get one for $150.00 - without the accessories that come with it (small packs behind the seat)

Just keep in mind that the seat of the kayak will determine the lenght of time you spend comfortably on the yak - so, don't go cheap on this particular gear. (same goes with the paddle).

Thanks, Bill & Mooch.
I will print out both and accidentally leave them on the coffee table.  Then my wife can "surprise" me.

Yes on the inflatables you need to leave the valve open whenever it is not in use.

I got a Surf to Summit GTS Airwave (inflatable) seat two years ago.  It worked well but began to leak somewhere inside the seat.  I contacted the company and they promptly replaced it with another.  Problem is, the second one also developed problems.  The plastic or epoxy seat for the valve cracked and let the air out.  I contacted them again and they offered a replacement GTS Elite or Pro.  I chose the Elite at Sean White's recommendation.  It seems that the seat's valve has a faulty design and it sounded like the company will likely discontinue the GTS Airwave.

So, the bad news, for any of you that might be thinking about buying an Airwave from someone or some website...I wouldn't because it's faulty.

But the good news is that the company was very responsive and did what it needed to do to to make things right.
