I met Sean and Juan at the lake at around 4:00 Pm today and we headed out for some top water action. We ended up getting into 4 nice boils. One seemed to last forever! Juan and I landed one each and Sean landed 3. We all were lucky enough to land one on a flyrod.

Here's the pic's.

That was FUN!!!  I had to work at the lake this AM and I got great intel about evening topwater.  I called Dan and Juan and we hit it late in the day.  We had the whole place to ourselves. I went north, Dan went towards Crappie and we began looking.

Pretty soon my cell goes off and Dan is spotting some small surface action near the north end of Crappie.  I head down and I can see it...TOPWATER.  As me and Dan close in it goes down.  A few minutes goes by and I can hear fish behind me.  RIGHT behind me!  I grab my flyrod that I had been trolling and start to strip it in so I can get a cast off...WHAMMO! Fish on!  Dan trolls his fly into the mayhem and he is on.  Juan barely misses on on the crease fly.  We end the boil with a flyrod double.

They went down again, but then came up to the south of us this time.  Juan is on it this time and is on with a topwater fly immediately.  I coast in, make a few false casts and let it shoot.  Strip...strip...WHAMMO!  Flyrod fish #2 and me and Juan are doubled.  Dan gets to the boil too, but no conversion for Mahi...so close to a triple.

The fish went down again and we cruise the area.  They came up again further south, but not hard.  I see them on the meter 15 feet down and drop a zoom into the mix...FISH oNNN!!!  That was the last fish of the night, as a big cloud rolled in and squashed the sun.

The lake is incredibly different than just three days ago.  The water is green and clear, and the fish we caught tonight were thick and STRONG.  I  :smt007 Mendo!!!  Fall is HERE!  All fish were released.

Hey Sean! - It was just a matter of time and the top-water would start up. I know you guys had a Blast! I'll make some time to git back up there before Thanksgiving and get a little piece of the action! Any intel is always appreciated. Tom

I was wondering! The copter didn't look like calstar. Were you headed to Redwood Valley for the farm worked that crashed on the tractor?

Who won?  Still having flashbacks from yesterday.  It had been WAY too long since I had seen that kind of quality topwater.
