My Stohlquist drysuit has taken a dump after 8 years.  I didn't use it a lot but it was a good one until it turned into a sieve! .......
and not repairable.  I would like to have another one to use now and then in the colder months and maybe a trip to the bay.  I've seen these Alibaba drysuits for sale at really low prices.  I can't afford a new $800-$1000 suit and wonder if anyone in Nor Cal has any experience with these.  The reviews I have read indicate that they're only good for a couple of years but for less than 200 bucks that might be worth it.  What say yee fellow yakkers?

Thanks for posting this, kokoloco.  I spent a little time looking around the Aliexpress ads.  I'm leery of the reported MO of the company - that is, they're a marketplace for third party sellers much of the time.  It sounds like kind of a gamble to buy their product and to count on quality materials and workmanship.  That said, if the $200 drysuit worked even half way decently, it would be worth having for someone like me.  I've completely worn out two Kokatat suits (years ago), because I used them heavily and inundated them with blood, salt and sunshine for too many full days of guiding.  Once they leaked I went to wearing my 3 mil wetsuit underneath, and sometimes a 1 mil liner under that.  The drysuit - even when impaired with leaks, worn gaskets, failed zippers - keeps the blood and splashes off of me, and the wetsuit stays nice and comfy underneath.  I might buy one of these cheapos to go back to that program.  I've been running with dry pants and dry top over the wetsuit and liner for about 5 years now, but the dry pants are just about toast, and the top isn't long for the world either.  I'm glad to have gotten 5 years out of them.  That's a lot of rockfish, lingcod, salmon and halibut blood.   :smt001

If someone wants a drysuit that doesn't leak, I probably wouldn't buy the cheapo.

Don't forget that even a really nice drysuit that never leaks can land you with hypothermia - it's key to wear the right underlayering.  Also, watch out for counting on a drysuit to keep you safe - even with the proper underlayering - because a hole in the suit can happen during your session, and you might just have very cold water flooding in.  I believe in dressing for immersion that includes instances of all hell breaking loose!

Thanks for the reply's.  I'm still doing some research but I don't know about purchasing the Chinese suits with very little info regarding warranties and returns.  "Buy once cry once" might be the way to go.  Thanks again fellow members for your 411.
