Noticeably better crabbing than opening weekend. Not red hot but we were at least getting enough keepers to keep us pulling hoop nets most of the day. Also, it was a beautiful day.
My buddy suggested we zip tie chicken drumsticks to the hoop rings to give the crabs something to eat so they don't walk away and it seemed like that was really effective, if you don't do something similar I suggest you try it. I've got a bait holder where I put lots of smelly stuff, and I think that attracts them, but the accessible drumsticks appeared to keep them around long enough to catch em.
Conditions look pretty good for the next couple days so get out there and get some Thanksgiving crab!
Where else do y'all crab around the Bay Area? With conditions looking as good as they do I'm thinking of trying Bolinas or Stinson tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing! And well done with the drumstick trick. That’s what I heard too; you need an attractant and something else to keep them stay. I know some folks were successful at HMB, but I’ve always crabbed at LM. Close to home.

Nice!  I'm another regular at Linda Mar.

Chicken makes excellent bait, and as you observed, especially when the crabs can pick at it a little.  The last few seasons I've just been stuffing chicken/fish parts into the pocket on the hoop.  This year, I have some mesh bags that I think will allow the crabs to pick a little, while making bait management a lot easier for me.

I haven't made it out yet this season, but hope to soon.
