I remember in the olden times farmers from the north coast would collect them for organic fertilizer. Somewhere there's a pic from the Sentinel showing guys shoveling them into trucks off of the launch ramp to be transported.

Adam from MBK posted a INSANE video on Facebook of about a million anchovies swarming the coast guard pier right now.

Yes, I stopped by after lunch, and the smell was especially bad at the A dock.

Coincidentally, there was a (non-NCKA) kayaker at the A dock, and he had a nice halibut...

I was there yesterday and boy howdy that is one funky smell! Saw a blurb on the news too showing the oily build up on boats. It looks nasty! They also mentioned that it was a whale that chased the school into the harbor.

Was there Saturday morning at the kayak ramp near F dock and it totally smelled bad. There were mushy dead anchovies on the ramp and floating in the water. Nasty brown slicks where the aerators weren’t stirring things up. And lots of nasty brown junk on the boats. A large whale was out there, and I think dolphins might have helped herd the anchovies into the harbor. On my way back in, laden with a giant halibut, a pod was ripping around out front.

The stink stayed with me all day after that and into the next.
