Hi everyone,

Been wanting to try fishing for striper.... I have heard that the delta is starting to go off and I would love to give it a go.
Never fished the delta but would love to try.... my main fishing time is during the week and would love to meet up with someone for a delta excersion.   Looking for a fairly easy cheap launch site fairly close to where we might find some stripers..... Let me know if anyone wants to join up as again never fished the delta and have no idea of good launch and fishing sites.....
Did notice some folks reporting on Benicia but not even sure that is considered the delta?

Thanks
Troy

Hey Troy, Benicia isn't quite the delta, but I do like it for stripers in these transition seasons. They move through and stage there, so when it is good there, it is really good.

Sherman Island is an easy first time delta excursion. Launch at the ramp or on the beach, there is a large flat area, some islands with deep channels nearby, and easy access to the main Sacramento River. Little current inside the "lake" portion, and lots of room to move around and find fish. Drift with bait, anchor with bait, troll, whatever you wanna do in that area. I have had best luck trolling the shallows near the channel edges, or anchoring and tossing bait at the channel edge.
