Finally after 5 years...Introduction

Hello, just recently bought a perception kayak.
Looking into more water time..I have o ly been jetty fishing for the most part.

Question: the kayak gunwale is on an angle..can I put a rail mount? surface is smooth but diagonal..

I also have a Perception with the slanted gunwale. I haven't attached a rail mount to it, but I don't see the harm. I recommend using a backing plate of some sort, to make sure it is nice and secure - some accessories on extensions can put a lot of leverage on a relatively small mount surface.

The Scotty mount accessories mostly have angle adjustments, so once you get it mounted, it should be easy to get adjusted the way you want.

The reason I didn't do a rail mount on mine is that I sometimes stack kayaks when transporting, and my Perception is the big tandem, so it is always on the bottom. I didn't want to introduce any snag/rip hazards for the other kayak. I also like to be able to store the kayak upside down, and having the top smooth helps that a lot.

But, everyone's use is different, so if that works for you, go for it. Kayaks are easy to modify, and getting things set up to work best for you is part of the fun.

I will search for gear tracks and install them this w/end..thanks
