Does anyone have an update on Mr. X?

We followed every step of his trek with respect and admiration. Did he and his boat get home safely; and hopefully, to a heroes welcome?
Thanks to anyone who can share.

Hi Dane,
Sorry I didn’t update these days, thank you remind me. I am back home almost 2 weeks already, and in these two week, i am busy to take care the back and front yard, watering the fruit tree which near to die

And also sort out the picture video, wrote some chapters for this journey. I want it be recorded to be my whole life memory, but i wrote in Chinese first, i plan after all i wrote, i will use chatGPT to share in NCKA, as you knew, my English is not good, sometimes can not express what i want to say. Please check below link for  my article in the website, you can choose the English translate when you open.

And also busy in work since i took 1 month leave, lots of work need to do

And need to take care one strange thing. San Jose city give me a citation for my house walk way. I removed a huge die tree, this tree root also raised the curbs, 1-2 inch higher than walkway. City say its risk for other people. But the thing is, many other area in this street much worse than mine, I asked them why  only focus me? They said you can highlight this case to city, they cannot do anything if no one highlights. I ask them you are inspector, this is your job scope, i dont want to finger point each other in neighborhood. But they just do nothing

And i asked them, if i leave as is, let the die tree die there, no one care, when i want to make our street live environment better, you come, not encourage me, but discourage me, give me citation, that doesn’t make any sense.

So ridiculous! And to rebuild the curb, need $4000-$6000. Anyone have the same story? Can share how to handle this situation?

Sorry to hear about your headaches with the city of SJ. It sounds like they are almost as unreasonable as Santa Clara county, which we have to deal with up here in the hills.

Hi Mr. X,

Welcome home from your big adventure - man against the elements, man against man, man against himself - the whole gamut!

Now you have to deal with the the inane bureaucracy of city government. I deal with submittals to 20 different cities and counties around the Bay Area and I often say the "Deep State" is local. SJ probably has a tree ordinance and there is a good reason for that. If everyone removed the street trees at their discretion, then the streets would be hotter and unlivable. If the city is reasonable, there is probably a simple application for tree removal with a recommended replacement tree. It is in the city's interest to remove a tree causing damage to infrastructure.
My tree removal went smoothly and quickly in Walnut Creek, but I can't say all cities are that reasonable.
