I have a bunch of the two-ring style hoop nets (one big ring, one small) that lay flat on the bottom. I've patched them extensively over the years with whipping twine, but the netting is getting too old and frail at this point. Is there a way to replace the nets on these things? The stock netting is sewed around the rings, so seems like a total PITA to replace.  :?

I used to make my own rings using macrame and it's not too bad if you have patience. Make the knots closer together as you reach the bottom so the size of the net tube matches the bottom ring. Here's a video I found online that goes over the basics.

I used a tar coated twine so it was easier to tie knots the wouldn't slip off the bottom. It's not sticky or messy, just holds a know better. Nylon or other string that sinks is best.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

The cost of the ambush hoops is crazy, so I'm hoping to learn to repair my nets as well to keep them going a while longer.

I've done two hoop netting replacements using a replacement landing net. The big green ones they use on powerboats.
just have to match the hoop diameter and the net mouth then sew it on.

If considering replacement, Bass Pro has the best price I've found yet. I just ordered two more hoop nets, the 32" Promar deluxe, for $45 each. Comes with 100' line and two floats, ready to go. Same net at Dicks in PH was about $65, for reference.

Yep, bought 1 at Dick’s a couple years ago and regretted it after seeing them at Fishermen’s Wharehouse for $39. They work fine.
