So Sad, my wife and I just started mushroom hunting last year and have just been going after a few easy ones to identify. Morel's are the next one we were thinking of going after. I have been reading about a few people getting poisoned by morels lately, so we decide to wait awhile before we try for any new ones. This post just reenforces that decision.  RIP fellow forager and kayaker, Ron.

So sad about Pete I mis his posts immensely.

Morels are probably the most hunted of the wild mushrooms. I have been collecting them for over 30 years, and from the beginning I was always told to cook them well. If you want to hunt and consume mushrooms you should join one of the mycological societies and go out with experienced leaders. Right now they are having forays for porcini and morels.
