Some of us are trying to get a get together at Bethany Reservoir in Tracy on October 13th (Saturday) for a little fishing and a bbq. Lake access is free along with a free boat launch. There is bathroom facilities and a gazebo, not sure about bbq pits but I will swing by there this week to check it out and take some pictures. I will bring both of my kayaks for use. This lake has largemouth bass, bluegill, catfish and even stripers. Since the aquaduct flows into it and is damed at one end. Ive done well with rattle-traps in the inlet (there is a nice current coming in) Senkos for bass and the usual cut baits for catfish. There is a nice bike path around half of the lake so there is plenty of fishable shoreline. Its usually windy but sometimes you get a good break. I guess we can all watch the weather and see what happens and maybe alter the date as it gets closer. Any input will be appreciated and more info will be added as we go along. If people want to put their names down for bringing an item for the bbq start a list. I have a small charcoal bbq I can bring if there aren't any provided there.

Bethany Google on Google Earth (click to zoom in)

The loop by where the aquaduct comes into the lake at the northern part of the lake is where the day use gazebos are and the boat ramp is right at the narrow part of the lake near the upper-center part of the lake. I will pinpoint areas on a more zoomed in map tomorrow.

DIRECTIONS FROM 580/205

Depending on where you are coming from here are directions. Ill post the easy way with little amount of turns, there are shortcuts but you can easily get lost.

From 580/205 take Grant Line / Byron Exit

You can only go one way.

Follow it down untill you see a bar on your left

Turn left at the bar (Mountain House Road)

Follow it down until you hit Kelso road

Turn left at Kelso road

Follow Kelso until you hit Bruns Road

Turn left at Bruns Road

Bethany Reservoir is on Bruns Road.

Go slow, Bruns isnt marked well and you hit a dead end road if you pass it.

(Bruns automatically turns into Christensen Road)

Here are pics I found from a parks page (NOT RECENT PHOTOS)
