A bit windy out there but fishable   I think there were 7 or 8 of us.  Many caught shakers and one 24"er for Gabe's first ever kayak salmon.   Some picked up rockfish.  If the winds dies a bit a longer/deeper trip might payoff.  Shakers seemed to be on the bottom.

Good showing of kayakers @ Linda Mar, if not a great showing of fish.  Jonathan, Gabe, Jason, Joel, Chef, Steve S., Albert - did I miss anyone?

At least one or two shakers for all who went for salmon.  Gave wins kudos for actually bringing back a salmon.  The big news was Joel getting the skunk off his yak by at least touching salmon flesh he caught.

Joel and Jason demonstrated unique surf landing technique, by trying to land upside down.  The backwards/face-the-surf approach appears to be the best means for trying 360's off the face of waves.  Albert and I, watching from calmer waters, will never forget the sight of 2 Prowlers standing on end - yep, both Joel and Jason endo'd.  Oh, for a camera when you need it...

I envy you guys for gettin out there.

What about the rockfish? Any Lings on the reef wreck?

How big were the landing waves, many surfers?

For the record Joel and I were trying trick landings. It's part of a new fad of kayak fishing.

I trolled for approximately 30 minutes when I realized that I was better off trying for some rockfish.  I met up with Albert and we bobbed around for a while trying to get used to the chop and swell. As time progressed I ran into a good sized school of blacks that provided some action and some good sized keepers.  Two Kayakers fishing near Albert and I caught some under lings and a cab before one of them went swimming.  That ended his day and he battled the surf to go home.  Joel, Dave and the rest of the fleet met up with us but nothing was to be taken home.  I think Joel caught anunder ling as well as losing a jig.

All in all it was a fine day for not catching a ling, salmon and doing a 360 in the surf! :smt003
