Posted a late hookup on Sunday night, then waited for the fog to clear (and the air to warm!) before launching around 11am from Brickyard Cove towards the end of Point San Pedro Road in San Rafael.  It was about an hour before the top of the tide with a very slight NW breeze...

By asalvas, shot with DSC-W55 at 2007-10-09

Trolled along the shore past the actual brickyard (yep, they still make bricks there!)...

By asalvas, shot with DSC-W55 at 2007-10-09

Ran into a guy named Dale in a blue Frenzy who is retired and lives nearby.  More from Dale in a minute!

I decided to head towards the Loch Lomond levee and passed a potential NCKA Clubhouse  :smt007

By asalvas, shot with DSC-W55 at 2007-10-09

Pointed the yak towards the Marin Islands...

By asalvas, shot with DSC-W55 at 2007-10-09

...but the breeze and chop was increasing so I turned around and headed back towards the brickyard and the protection of the hill.  Made it to the point between the brickyard and the quarry (just below the nice house on the hill), then headed in towards the cove.  Saw Dale landing a few hundred yards ahead of me, and he was carrying something SPECIAL...

A 30" (approx) Halibut!  He caught it right at the point under the house tight into the rocks jigging a chartruse hairaiser.  Who says you need bait for halibut!  And who says the Brickyard is only for trolling Stripers.  In fact, a guy shorefishing nearby said a 25" Halibut was pulled in from the same spot rececently.  Might have to give that technique a try and same myself some paddling!

Nice report. I think them butts are in more places than we realize, and they are around longer than we think too... Seems like any good flat with some current is a likely spot.

Hey Fishunter, we all know you are the king of Pics!  You might want to try this way of posting them, though.   :smt002

The 3 or 4 level one on the right was on the market for about $1.7mil a couple of years ago.  (The front door is about 10 feet away from the 4 lane road!)

If that was the clubhouse, what would the dues  be?

Love to see new techniques catch fish.
