I recently ordered some more fish for my backyard pond. I got 10 channel cats & 15 bluegill from this place in Florida. They all arrived alive and seem to be acclimating well. When I ordered, they had hybrid striped bass too, but now they’re gone from the website. That would be cool to have some wipers in my backyard…although they’re probably eat the other fish haha. Anyways, catfish derby at my house in 5 years!

very very cool! are these pets or are you doing aquaculture? I had a small fish farm in highschool with 75 lmb and about 50 channel cats. it grew about 350 kale plants every 3 months too.

Not for food, just for fun. I already have a garden for that.
And don’t worry Eric, I’ll keep my bags outta the pond…haha. Hey there’s a legit cornhole league in Fortuna now—I follow them on FB, Lost Coast Cornhole.

Cool, thanks for posting this. I was considering setting up and aquaponic system but could not find a source for fish.

As a kid/teenager used to just bring fish home alive from fishing and put them in the backyard pond. I had trained bluegill, green sunfish and a bass.
The bass was probably illegal since it was undersized. (but maybe not at that time for that body of water) But is it even legal to transport live sunfish that you catch? If so, I'm not sure how that is any different than buying them from a breeder.

Currently I would really like to breed Sacramento Perch in my backyard.
I was able to stock a few in a client's pond that the local mosquito abatement district gave me several years ago. But unfortunately they disappeared.

Its about 10x6ft and 3-4ft deep.

I may have done the same thing as a kid haha. But nowadays it is illegal to move live fish from a public lake into a private pond.
And thats a really cool deal with the Sac Perch. They get no respect as a CA local fish! But they’re badass little fish. The first one I ever saw was in the Pajaro River lagoon.

Nice! I've always wanted to do a pond and looked at getting some old tomato truck tubs as the pond liners. Did you stock a forage fish?
