Howard just informed me he also has the Beef patties. NEED: Water, Sodas The regular things like paper plates, utensils. Need to make a list and check it twice. I am not sure if we have some of this stuff from past events or not. If you can get donations that would be great. If you Guys and Gals are contributing time, gas and effort you don't need to spend your dollars too. Jack is talking Funnel Cakes :smt007

 What an animal.

Hann, a resident of Squamish, B.C., cranked out 40-mile days and weathered occasional bouts of eight-foot seas on a 250-mile journey by standup paddleboard from Kitimat to the native community of Hartley Bay and along the island-pocked coast south to the remote town of Bella Bella. He met with coastal First Nations to learn first-hand how 220 supertankers each carrying eight times the volume of the Exxon Valdez would affect their traditional way of life, visited whale researchers, and landed at age-old pictograph, petroglyph and burial sites.

Picked up the new ride Fri 2/10 @ Dennis's Warehouse in Valley Ford. What a cool spot. Had a great day exploring hangouts from my childhood (38 years a go.) Home by 2:00 with my new stick! Started the morning off with breakfast Burritos on the porch of Valley Ford Hotel & Rocker Oysterfeller's Kitchen + Saloon  http://www.panoramio.com/photo/6014286 . Left there to go unpack Betsy and load her on the Volvo. After running Spike all over hell and back finally got on the road to meet Mr. Kunz in Santa Rosa for some Pho and catching up. After putting a twist in the tie downs, damn that noise is horrible, I had a smooth trip back to the East Bay. Unpacked all the goodies- PRO"S= Wheels/cart, so simple but effective. Front hard case, instant Dry Bag. My lunch even fits in there! 2 x 6" Screw Hatches. Bungied pockets for sm/md tackle box's. Mounting Areas galore, Built in Flotation, I could go on and on. I will wait til I have it in the water before get too judgmental. Cons= 1. Besides the 6" hatches there is no interior hull access. Bummer for carrying an extra paddle ect. I think I have a fix for this and we will have to wait and see. 2. The Plano deep box does not fit in the pocket like Tiny's. Minor Cons compared to the Pros. This is gonna be fun!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - January 30, 2012

DFG Releases Adult Coho Salmon into Sonoma County Creek

The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) recently released adult coho salmon in Salmon Creek, Sonoma County to reestablish a coho salmon population.

This is the fourth consecutive year adult salmon were released. This year 200 adults were released on two separate occasions in late December 2011 and early January 2012. The released coho included 120 males and 80 females, predominantly hybrids derived from mating coho salmon of Russian River and Olema Creek origin, with a small number of pure Russian River coho and Olema Creek coho.

"We are at a critical moment in the survival of the coho salmon on the California coast," said Manfred Kittel, DFG Coho Salmon Recovery Coordinator. "DFG and our federal and environmental partners must take aggressive actions to save the species from becoming extinct in central California."

As in previous years, this year's fish were released near the mouth of Salmon Creek with the hope that the fish will migrate upstream to find suitable spawning habitat in one of Salmon Creek's tributaries. Despite the general lack of rain this season, biologists are optimistic that the recently released coho should be able to find spawning habitat in some upstream portions of Salmon Creek and its tributaries.

The release of adult coho in Salmon Creek is a joint effort between DFG, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and other entities, including private landowners. The Salmon Creek access site is located a few miles north of Bodega Bay on the Chanslor Ranch owned by George Gross.

"The entire coho recovery team appreciates Mr. Gross allowing us to access the creek on his property for the past four years," said Kittel. "There are few optimal places where adult coho can be released and we appreciate the help we get from Chanslor Ranch."

In 2008, 2009 and 2010 field biologists collected tissue samples and confirmed that the released coho spawned successfully in several tributaries and in all possible mating combinations.

Fish surveys planned for the coming summer in the Salmon Creek watershed will tell DFG biologists whether the latest released group of adult coho salmon has reproduced successfully and whether any of the progeny from the first release in winter 2008 have returned this season from the ocean to spawn in the watershed where their life's journey began three years ago.

Releasing hatchery-reared adult coho salmon is a relatively new technique that has the advantages of not requiring spawning in a hatchery, allowing the released fish to establish natural mating patterns and subjecting their offspring to natural selective pressures from birth on.

Getting ready to order firewood for the tourny. I need to get a rough estimate of how many need it. Last year wwe ran short and some didn't get any. I ended up paying to make up the diff so I would like to order more (better price) and charging just a little more. This not an easy thing to gestimate so the more input/orders I get the better.
