Funny thing that red seems to be universal among fishing lures! A Hi's Tackle guy mentioned that to me years ago and I have always had plain white surfboards/kayaks since then.

This is good for a look.

There was a bit of bait popping on the surface but not much. The fishfinder was picking up what appear to be bait balls but in the bay these are often those jellyfish blob things- no idea what they are called though.

Fished Paradise for a spank. Several party boats and more privates made a couple of long drifts with no action. The party boats ran off and I fished through the afternoon. Halibut action has been pretty slow here after a flurry 3 weeks ago but I thought I'd give it a shot. Nice day on the water with light wind though. On a side note, I did get lively shiners from Keith. Lively, but banged up with red noses and worn tails like dfg trout. Maybe his pens are too small...

Steve, I'm going to miss you.... so many great times at ft. ross!!! rest easy buddy.

21
it sounds like pt reyes salmon are far out- 10 to 15miles, but there is a good  bite of quality silvers in closer (chimney rock) which of course is no good.  i was thinking pt reyes salmon for tomorrow but now fort ross rockies seem a like higher probability.  i am basing this off of coastside reports that i have read as of 7pm tonight. i could be wrong with the numbers that people posted there so  corrections  and more informed intrepretations are welcome! as of current i am heading to fort ross for a 630am launch or so. company welcome. conditions look good.

it will be interesting to see what the coastsiders post for chimney rock, and pt reyes in close, on saturday. right now everyone is reporting really warm water which isn't too good for bait...good for albacore though jonathan!

my mistake...long hours at work and bleary eyes... i thought this was for saturday. im going to post this for saturday

23
Im in. forecast looks to be 5 to 15 so early morning should be smooth. 6:30 sounds early enough too!

24
i might see you there tomorrow...i'll be launching early if i can make it.

25
Iam keeping an eye on it. The forecast was looking good but now the winds are coming up a bit. I am looking at going there or possibly off of lighthouse road just north of point arena.

26
yeah I with that. I also want to launch off of mattle road just north of petrolia at cape mendocino or  bear harbor.

I have been there plenty of times but never paid any attention to a lauch spot.  Anyone got the scoop on a good launch? Might go for salmon or rock cod on sat & sunday

28
thinking about it... im in SF so dux is closer for me too.  its worth thinking about fort bragg too. its hot there now and the fish are in really close. the surf should be tiny again tomorrow as well. its quite a drive though...hmmm

29
I haven't fished with you for a while so hi and good luck in Vegas.... The swell should be crankin' by sat morning. Its coming down the coast solid as I write (fri night). I'm surfing on Saturday but I might stop by to say hi.
Take care. Yeah, and props for starting the first site!
