Fishing Tournaments and Events / BAM Kayak bass Tournaments

Anybody Fishing the Wild West bass trail replacement? They have their tournament schedule posted and open for registration. I may fish their Trinity tournament but I’m not really interested in any of the other lakes or the delta they have scheduled. Here’s a link to  their website.

General Talk / Which paddle for a 6’2” dude in a old town Predator PDL
« on: February 01, 2024, 07:39:46 PM »
I just acquired an Old town Predator PDL and although I plan on using it as a PDL mostly I want a paddle stowed away in case of an emergency. I’ve been out of the game for awhile and aren’t familiar with where the technology is with paddles compared to 10 years ago. I’m 6’2” and aren’t familiar with sizing with a higher seat than a traditional sit on top kayak like my old trident ultra 4.3.  Which paddle would you recommend for a “take down” but decent quality. It doesn't have to be crazy nice but I don’t want Walmart cheap either if I’m going to need to depend on it in an already crappy situation. Thanks in advance!

I just picked up a used Malibu extreme that needs a replacement hatch. I don’t care if it’s the stock one or the aftermarket gator hatch. If someone had one laying around I would be happy to buy it from you. Push comes to shove I can put a soft whitewater cover over it but I thought I would put the word out first. Thank you much everyone!

Ocean Kayaks / Re: Old Town Sportsman Autopilot experiences?
« on: June 05, 2021, 08:15:01 AM »
Thanks for everyone’s input! I’ve been watching a bunch of review videos and written reviews and for the most part everyone loves them. There’s a handful of bad reviews that seem to be isolated problems that were handled by old town in warranty. Overall I’m liking what I’m seeing but I’m going to keep looking into my other options before I spend the money. Thanks again peeps!

We can agree to disagree. I’ve got no problem working smarter and not harder when I’m on vacation. I’m on the water to fish and not to paddle. If I wanted to paddle I’d buy a canoe. Same thing goes for peddle. I would buy a bike if that’s was the case.

Ocean Kayaks / Old Town Sportsman Autopilot experiences?
« on: June 01, 2021, 06:52:58 PM »
My better half and I have recently bought a travel Trailer and am wanting to get away from taking two rigs for the trailer and boat. I saw the sportsman autopilot and instantly fell in love coming from a bass boat with spotlock. Call me a gear hoe but I enjoy all the bells and whistles. I don’t kayak for the serenity I kayak because it makes life easier sometimes rather than beating my big boat up. Any input is much appreciated!

Wanted To Buy / Re: ISO Tetra 12 angler or similar kayak
« on: March 17, 2018, 12:40:19 AM »
After researching for a little while I think I’m going to go with a Malibu for the stability and price points compared to others. I was also looking at the more expensive models with more features and the weight compared to others and it’s pretty impressive what you can get for under 60 lbs. I’m leaning towards the stealth 9 for the hatch storage and the stability. I’m a minimalist when it comes to my fun fishing so having it rigged and loaded with tackle ready to go sounds good to me!

It doesn’t really matter standing up is just a bonus. Like I said just looking for something to get off the bank but I’m going to shop around and look at my options if I’m going to buy new. I’m game for anything if it’s used and the right price  :smt002

I’m looking around to see if anyone has a smaller fishing kayak they want to sell before I go buy a new one. I would love to find a tetra 12 angler but anything similar in the 10-12’ range would work. I’m looking for a light easy to wheel setup for walking in to some ponds I fish but would also be using it in the lake occasionally. Let me know what you have and let’s work out a deal! Tight lines peeps!
