General Fishing Tips / Re: Fishfinders scare fish?
« on: May 18, 2019, 07:48:36 PM »
Many years ago I had an older Chris Craft with a Raytheon commercial sonar unit. I never thought it would spook fish.
One day I was swimming away from the boat and I could hear a very loud clicking sound underwater. I forgot and had left the sonar on, after returning to the boat just before climbing onto swim step I put my hand close to the transducer and could feel the clicks and a dull pain in my hand bones from the energy coming from the sonar, After that I always turned it off if I was anchored and fishing.
Now if I am swimming around my boat with newer CHIRP there is not a high power signal like that old Raytheon unit.
Does the Garmin on my kayak spook fish???? I don't think so!

Thanks for the lesson

My Son and I had so much fun diving Ocean Cove for the last urchin event,
I just made my reservation for Albion in July for the next one.
For the next dive I am bringing my Wife and our kayaks to help out too

I can say it was time well spent, but I am not sure when or if there is any plans for more in the future.
There was a call list going around the group on Sat. to do a on the water trip/lesson also.

I am not sure where this should  be posted but I wanted to share my experience  about the kayak fishing clinic hosted at Claveys in Petaluma today 4-7-18
Every one in attendance was given a bag with useful websites for kayak fishing, up to date DFG reg. books and a swim bait for rockfishing
I am always open to learn new things and today paid off. I took my wife who loves to fish but does not get out with me fishing as often as she likes and she had a lot of fun.
I was very happy to meet Craig or better known as Ravensblack.
He was very knowledgeable and did a great job engaging the group and answering a wide range of questions.
I am sorry I don't remember the names of the other instructors that were there also since they all shared a wealth of information
Thanks to all for a great day

I have never used a snare for crab but you make it look like a lot of fun and you got dinner as a huge plus.
Great job on the go-pro footage, it's always cool to see what's down there.

After some very savvy advice from some other members here I have brought the price down to a more reasonable level.
This does come with a paddle and some very good fish MOJO
