General Talk / Re: Help fix my generator

Spark plug looks decent. Air filter looks good but should be slightly oily to the touch. Clean it with dish soap. Let it dry. Place in a Zip-Lock bag. Add a little oil and squeeze until the filter is completely coated. You can get Air Filter Oil at any motorcycle shop. Typical that there is no fuel petcock or filter. If there's room, you can add a in-line petcock and filter. Then you wouldn't have to drain the Float Bowl after each use. Just turn the fuel off and let run till it dies. If the carb still gives you issues, two choices, tear it down and clean it or buy a new one. They are fairly cheap on amazon. Good luck with it!

STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer works wonders for keeping gas fresh for up to two years. The jets I was talking about are extremely small orifices' and can clog even with fuel stabilizer.  Best to run it dry, then drain the float bowel just to make sure. STA-BIL also makes a Fast Fix Fuel Treatment that will remove any water in the fuel and clean the carb out. Pics not working for me. Does your generator have a petcock to shut the fuel off?

Al, Sounds like a plugged Main jet or Pilot jet. The jets will plug if the float bowl isn't drained and it sits without being started. Post the make and model of the generator along with pics of the old plug and carb. These carbs are pretty basic and usually come apart with just a Phillips screwdriver. I just went through my father in-laws generator and got it running after it sat for over 20 years. We'll get you through this. You can Do it!

How about Indian Valley Res? Camping, Fishing, Shooting, Off Roading and it's fairly secluded.

Hey Kevin!

Do you know of any particular spots on the reservoir? I've camped all around the reservoir but never on it. I know some people cross the bridge and head down the creek a bit.
To be honest, I haven't been up there in years. We used to have a huge family camp out there every year. We camped on the north end off of Bartlett Springs Road. I was true dirt camping. No toilets and No water. I have no idea what it's like now. There have been a few fires in that area since I've been there.

For Sale / 2004 Toyota Tundra for sale - Pics added
« on: February 24, 2025, 08:58:44 AM »
Selling my 04 Tundra Limited Double Cab. 4.7 V8. 200K miles. Just passed smog. New battery, alternator, catalytic. She's definitely showing her age and isn't as pretty as when I bought her but its straight with only scratches and clear coat issues in a few spots.  She's a great runner. No leaks and doesn't burn oil. Listing at $6k but will come down for NCKA. I'll get pics up soon.
Kevin

I'll get some interior shots tonight.
Note: this is rear wheel drive. Not a 4x4!

Introductions / Re: Hello people of NCKA

Welcome Squidgames.
There are a lot of members in the Sacramento area. Many of us fish for Kokanee and Trout. You are welcome to join us any time.
There is NCKA Fish-n-Chill at Bullards Bar Res. on May 9, 10, 12th. It would be a great place to meet members and learn about catching Kokanee. Check the Hookup and Reports boards and the Fishing  Tournaments and Events boards for info. Once you get to 10 posts, several Members Only boards will open up for you. I fish for Kokes quite often. Feel free to send me a PM if you ever want to go.

Safety First / Re: Safety tip for parents of toddlers

Years ago, my niece choked on one of those. Luckily, she was able to cough it back out with a little help for her mom. My son was the same age so I tossed anything that had a simple Velcro closure for the batteries and used Loctite on everything that had a screw cover.

Great choice Pickitup. Now just pair it with a quality line counter reel and you're good to go. Post up when you are going and if you want company. I'm sure several will join you. The 3rd Annual Bullards Bar Fish-n-Chill is coming up in May. It's a great time and you'll be able to put your new rod to use there. Bullards is loaded with Kokanee.

Al, Something to consider. My 2010 Sequoia 5.7 V8, 381Hp with over 200k miles is getting 15 in the city and 19 Hwy. The same year Tundra 5.7 V8 381Hp is 15 city and 20 Hwy. The same year Tacoma 4.0 V6, 236Hp gets 16 city and 20 Hwy. There is only a 1 mile per gallon difference and the extra capacity and horsepower are worth it to me.

I use the Eagle Claw Featherlight Kokanee Special 7'6' rods paired with Abu Garcia Max DLC's. They work great on a down rigger or using the sliding weight system. The action is fast enough so you an detect the slightest hit but they have enough backbone to handle larger fish. I have caught kokanee, Trout and landlocked Kings with them. Some people will say you need a $100+ rod but that's just them saying "Mine is bigger than yours and cost more, so it's better". If you pair the Eagle Claw with a descent reel that has a quality drag, you'll be fine.

Yep, back bouncing/trolling for sure. Took me a second though cause the orientation on the pic. Obviously the lead would go on the snap. I have no idea what the Green thing is though.

100% agree, The Casio's are relatively cheap and can take a ton of abuse. I always mounted one on the crossbar pad on my dirtbike. They never failed me through all the crashes, water, mud, blood and beer.
