The one nice thing of Marshall beach is people can drive and take a little hike, there is no overnight parking so drive ins are not allowed to spend the night but it does mean some people can spend the day, just a thought.

Looks like someone reserved every available Saturday for those group camps.

I’m telling you, it’s that local kayak touring company.  They reserved every Fri-Sat for the whole year and sell them on their website to groups and provide camping/kayaking services.  They are making a huge profit even if they don’t sell out all the weekends.

I alway end up going to olema campground, not nearly as nice. I also think they may have walk in at the bear valley ranger station, I may be going to point reyes in the next week and I can check on that. If not able to get a reservation for a site on the bay is anyone interested in Olema, just outside point reyes station, they have campsites and it is close to nick cove, LMK, Ron.

I think we can get permits the day of and camp on any beach on the peninsula. We just have to bring our own shit bucket. There are a lot of great places closer to hog island. Jack's beach is one of my favorite spots. Nice beach with a big flat grassy shady area hidden behind it 20ft away. Also has a little creek flowing down the side. Location, location, location.

there is limited camping sites, only one day for weekend, the week before several days 6/20 to 6/24, Tuesday to Saturday  at Tomales Beach. If people want to go would need to book right away. Ron.

some are available 14 days to the day in advance, and some are available for same-day (e.g., first-come-first-served) purchase ~9:30 am each morning.

I think Marshall Beach can handle more, I believe 16 people, it is a little further from Hog Island though.

Looks like these dates are available now for 7-14 people. I didn’t see the 1-6 person option available.

Such a fun trip! One thing to remember is to grab a fire permit from the Olema ranger station. Looks like you might even be able to do it online these days. They have some firewood restrictions too, they prefer you buy it in west Marin as to not spread disease.

We had the bioluminescence going off while we were there, such a trip. Glowing crabs and leopard sharks swimming below the kayak. Even a swimming raccoon, that had no fear of us or interest in our garbage, just wanted to seemingly hang by the fire and eat a crab claw.

I am bummed to have to miss this.  I start a cross-country drive on the 25th, but I'm starting to wish I was kayak camping instead.
