Title: Holiday Tournament--Grand Prize Winner is AlsHobieOutback
Post by: raydon on November 30, 2012, 10:47:55 PM
I'm calling a Holiday Tournament: It will give us something to think about during the dark days of December.

Rules:
     1.  Use any item associated with this holiday as a lure.  Please use good taste as we
don't want to offend anyone while we enjoy ourselves.
     2.  Post a picture of the lure before using it.  (remember, it must be of a holiday theme)
     3.  Take a picture of the fish you catch using the holiday lure while it is still attached to
fish.  It must be witnessed by a NCKA member.  The fish should then be released.
     4.   Post a picture of the fish on a measuring devise showing the length of the fish.
     5.   The longest fish wins.
     6.  Contest closes 12/31/2012.  Pictures must be posted by 1/10/2012.

The winner will get a beefy game clip donated by me.  Last summer I had two wsb and a ling cod on the clip and still had room for more.

Happy holidays NCKA members

I hadn't considered divers.  But what the heck.  Divers are people too.  Sounds good, the hat, Christmas tree all in the spirit.   How about humming silent nigt  while nailing a ling?

The Holiday fishing contest is still wide open.  No fish entered yet--but do we have some imaginative lures.  I almost busted my gut at Al's lures.  Fantastic.

I bought one from my local dive shop in San Luis obispo. I think it was about 45.00. But I like the extended prong for the gill.

Well, finally caught something on one of my holiday lures.   :smt003  But I guess I didn't follow all the instructions, so I guess it doesn't count.   :smt004 It was witnessed, but somehow I didn't get the trough pic, although I thought I took it, nothing on the camera when I got home. Being only 14" on the bigger one, didn't bother snapping one of the second fish. And neither fish was released, due to some bladder issues and the need for NYE fish taco's  :smt044  Either way I had fun fishing with a home made lure, that acutally out fished my other rigs today  :smt044  I guess it's true that rockfish will eat anything!  Well, doesn't hurt to put a bit of squid on there too  :smt002  Happy Holidays to all, and hope that we can do this again next year!  :smt006

It was close with so many people entering fish caught on holiday lures and the committee really wrestled with coming to a fair and impartial decision.  However, we can sleep with ease tonight knowing that our winner of the fish clip and only participant is:

Al. :smt043

Al made and caught a copper rock fish on a Limp Santa Clause Lure.

Way to go Al.
